Motivational Quote for Wednesday

"I believe the real difference between success and failure in a corporation can be very often traced to the question of how well the organization brings out the great energies and talents of its people." --- Thomas J. Watson, Jr.

I found this quote in the SHRM Midweek Motivation from their LinkedIn Group.

I hope this strikes a chord with our readers.  The job seekers who apply for, and eventually get, these seasonal jobs we love to share on Cool Works are SO excited about working in the National Parks and in the beautiful places where you are.  When they get to you, do you help encourage that enthusiasm to shine through their day to day work?  Do you tap into the fresh energy they bring each and every year?  I hope so!

As the season ends, I hope you take a moment to thank your employees for a job well done.  May they be sent back into the "real world" ready to share their experiences in the parks, at the camps, in the resorts, and the ranches of the world.  Each summer presents an opportunity to gain a whole new batch of park proselytizers.

Closing Thought:  Our weekly chats on My CoolWorks will begin again on October 1st.  Tell your staff to join us on Monday nights this fall and winter - http://my.coolworks.com - to keep in touch with their seasonal friends and make new ones.  I'm sure we'll hear the good, the bad and the ugly about their respective seasons, but I sure hope to hear all good.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Making Sense of Summer Work Visas For Foreigners

PBS NewHour recently did a piece about J-1 Visas.  For anyone wanting to learn about the multiple ways to view this program, why it exists and whether it's a good thing or taking away jobs from Americans, you may want to watch this informative ten-minute video.

We do our best at Cool Works to explain working in the United States on the following page of our site.

Cool Works does not offer any employment opportunities.  We serve as an advertising medium for our clients - and the clients are responsible for hiring their staffs.

If you are a STUDENT and you have a summer holiday, you will need to contact a reputable J-1 Visa Sponsor to apply for the summer Work And Travel Program.  Click on their web sites to check for designated representatives in your home country.

It is nearly impossible to secure a Visa to work in the United States without the help of a reputable agency.

We at Cool Works believe in the transformational changes seasonal jobs can have and we wish the best of luck to all job seekers, American or otherwise.
