On July 25, the US House of Representatives approved by vote of 351 to 78 an
amendment to attract exchange students to the U.S. and reverse the negative perceptions
of the visa process. The amendment encourages the US Department of State to develop "best
practices" to reverse the current situation. It calls for a review of the
application and issuance rates for F and J visas at every U.S. Consular post
abroad.
